PAX PRIME 2013: Show Floor

Even if you’re not interested with the next generation consoles, there are so much to do and so much to see during the 4 day event.

You like old school gaming like Sega Genesis or the Super Nintendo? –check!
you’re into board games like Settlers of Catan or Warmachine? –check!
How about card games like Magic: the Gathering or Cards Against Humanity? –check!
Maybe you just wanted to cosplay, collect a lot of swags or just meet new people? –check, check and check!

As a gamer, playing the latest and greatest upcoming video games is already a giveaway why you’ll want to go but all the other stuff like atmosphere, ambience and just having a fun experience is why we keep coming back every year.

As soon as you get inside the convention and right before the escalators, you are greeted by a statue of Ziggs a character from the game League of Legends.

If you get in before the Expo hall opens (10AM), they ask you to go to the Queue Room first.

Along the way, you get to see some awesome displays.

first day of PAX Prime the first booth I saw was the 2K booth decorated as a wrestling ring. I even saw the Ultimate Warrior being interviewed at one point during the days we were there but I was asked not to take photographs.

Speaking of not being able to take pictures, this year is the only year I was told not to take photos by some exhibitors in fear of me taking screenshots even though their booths are open for everyone else to see. Normally, if you’re taken on a private booth or on an eclosed viewing of a demo, that’s the only time they don’t allow photography or filming. But I was asked at the Wolfenstein: New Order booth, Titanfall booth and Battlefield 4 booth. But then, on the Titanfall booth, they allow media people to shoot videos while people are playing.

Watchdogs by Ubisoft and Wolf Among Us by Telltale games are shown on a private booth. The live demo shown for Watchdogs is how tablet users plays and interacts with the console players. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see Wolf Among Us as the line-up usually is about on the 2 hour wait.

Live media companies and Game accessories are also big this year. Most of them would have game competitions that would give away prices in the course of the 4 day event.

Nintendo has a few good games to show for 3DS and the Wii U. But most of the Wii U titles are the ones they announced last year before the console launch.

Elder Scrolls Online also has a big booth with stations that attendees can play. Another game that I missed playing because of the long line-ups.

Overall, it was another successful PAX Prime. a lot of Exhibitors showcasing their games and with their very cool looking displays. Lot of games to try out and things to see.

Not just video games, but board games can also be played and other merchandise that you can buy.

What also great is this year they have a bigger area dedicated for indie developers. The Indie Mega Booth! What’s not great? Every time i’m in the area, it’s packed by attendees.

And finally, here’s a short video that I took walking around the Show floor.

The final PAX has ended for the year. For some who are lucky enough that they could go to both PAX event, they don’t have to wait long as PAX East will happen again around spring next year. But for people like me, its still a full year for the next Prime. Hopefully we can get badges again as every year it seems it gets harder and harder.
